While crews battle wildfire blazes across B.C., a Brentwood Bay tourist attraction won’t throw its final fireworks shows of the summer.

Butchart Gardens cancelled its Aug. 19 show, expanding that cancellation to include the Aug. 26 and Sept. 2 shows due to the province-wide state of emergency.

While yearlong passes are normally not valid on fireworks days, with those cancelled the 12-month passes are valid on those Saturdays.

The Summer Series of evening entertainment at 8 p.m. continues with the Chris Millington Band on Aug. 26 and Backbeat on Sept. 2.

Night illuminations continue Wednesday to Saturday evenings through Sept. 15. As dusk falls, thousands of garden lights give a soft magical glow to shrubs, trees and flowers. The gardens are transformed into a wonderland, showcasing an artistic display of light and shadow.

The gardens are open to 11 p.m.
