George Jay gets holiday boost

Santa and Mrs. Claus dropped off a pretty sweet gift to the kids of George Jay elementary school this week.

The jolly elf himself made the presentation on behalf of Coast Capital Savings which has committed $75,000 to George Jay elementary school over the next three years through its new Adopt-a-School program.

The special delivery was made during the school’s annual multi-cultural holiday celebration.

The initial donation of $25,000 will help complete the school’s playground project fundraising initiative, with the remainder of the funds being used to implement an emergency preparedness program for the school and students.

During the holiday celebration, Coast Capital Savings staff from their Broadmead and Tillicum locations also gave each child a holiday stocking stuffed with socks; a hat and gloves; a toy; toothbrush and toothpaste; and colouring book and crayons.
