AIDS Vancouver Island hosting Love your Liver health fair in Victoria
Friday (July 27) from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., AIDS Vancouver Island hosts the Love Your Liver health fair and barbecue in Centennial Square, in conjunction with tomorrow's World Hepatitis Day.
The fair aims to raise awareness of hepatitis B and C, both of which are life-threatening liver diseases. While infection rates in Canada are lower than the one in 12 global rate for viral hepatitis, the B.C. rate for hepatitis C – for which there is treatment available, but no vaccine – is higher than the national figure, says acting AVI executive director James Boxshall.
The fair will include free food, games, music, yoga and information on liver health, nutrition, testing and treatment. Everyone is welcome.
