The City of Victoria honoured Esquimalt's 100th anniversary with a gift that users of the Songhees Walkway can enjoy. A bronze plaque, two steel chairs and side table will be installed along the walkway near Head Street this fall.

This week, the District of Oak Bay commemorated Victoria's 150th anniversary of incorporation by giving a gift of a Garry Oak Tree. On Tuesday, Victoria Mayor Dean Fortin and Oak Bay Mayor Nils Jensen, along with representatives from Victoria's sister city, Morioka, Japan, participated in a tree-planting ceremony in Beacon Hill Park.
