The talents of more than 100 students will bring popular musical 42nd Street to the Saanich Ridge Playhouse stage this week.

Based on the novel by Bradford Ropes and the subsequent 1933 film adaptation, it focuses on the efforts of famed dictatorial Great White Way director Julian Marsh to mount a successful stage production of a musical extravaganza at the height of the Great Depression.

Students fill the orchestra, cast and crew of this production that promises to have the audience toe-tapping with a smile.

Performances are May 7 to 10 and 14 to 17 at 7 p.m. with a 2 p.m. matinee on May 17.

42nd Street is directed and designed by Colin Plant. Musical Direction is provided by Jessica English. Chelsea Giordano is the choreographer.

Tickets are $12.50 available through the box office at 250-658-6672 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Friday.

The Ridge Playhouse, Claremont secondary 4980 Wesley Rd., is wheelchair friendly and features free parking.
