As the demand for environmental action grows louder, communities both around the world and here at home are answering the call.

In Esquimalt, the Township’s Parks & Recreation staff invite the community to the annual Earth Day Celebration at Highrock Cairn Park – a time to learn, to celebrate and to take action in support of the local environment.

Raising awareness and building community

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 17, residents of all ages are invited to come together and participate in a day of environmental stewardship and community-building.

This collaborative effort aims to raise awareness about the importance of preserving and protecting our local parks and urban forests for generations to come.

Hands-on activities for all ages

Esquimalt’s Earth Day Celebration promises a lineup of engaging activities designed to connect participants with nature while making a tangible impact on the local ecosystem.

From invasive species removal and tree planting to trail building and habitat restoration, everyone is invited to get involved and contribute to the health and vitality of Highrock Cairn Park, home to a variety of native plant species.

Partnering with schools and community members

The Township is proud to work with local schools and community organizations to make this event a success. By engaging youth and community members in hands-on conservation efforts, the Earth Day celebration fosters a sense of environmental responsibility and stewardship among participants.

Embracing sustainable practices

In addition to the hands-on activities, the Earth Day Celebration will feature educational workshops and presentations focused on sustainable living practices.

From composting and recycling to water conservation and native plant gardening, attendees will have the opportunity to learn practical tips for reducing their environmental footprint and living more sustainably.

Save the date for April 17 and join the community at Highrock Cairn Park for a day of environmental action, education and celebration.
