Talk is good for your heart

Listen to a free “Heartwarming” presentation on Tuesday Oct. 29 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Monterey Centre, 1442 Monterey Ave. Admission is free, but this talk always fills up quickly, so pre-registration is required by calling the centre at 250-370-7300.

This inspiring and interactive workshop, has been described as part cardiology bootcamp and part stand-up comedy, hosted by Carolyn Thomas.

Among the topics are women’s heart attack symptoms that may surprise you, tests and treatments that could save you, personal lessons learned from a heart attack survivor to inspire you, how to understand your own unique risk factors and some heart-healthy ways to address them.

Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women in Canada, killing more women than men each year, six-times more women than breast cancer and more women than all forms of cancer combined.
