Saanich aims to toughen tree bylaws

Saanich is hosting an open house on proposed changes to its tree preservation bylaw to further protect the urban forest within the municipality.

Saanich wants to halt a trend that has seen a 2.5 per cent reduction of the urban forest canopy between 2005 and 2009.

The public open house is June 18, 6 to 9 p.m. at the Cedar Hill Golf Course banquet room.
