Chefs and celebs co-mingled Thursday in Victoria as organizers announced the format for Gold Medal Plates, a high-level national chef's competition that doubles as a Canadian Olympic Foundation fundraiser.

Olympic medallist and organizing committee member Simon Whitfield was among those who spoke at the media event, held at the Victoria Conference Centre, where the event will happen Nov. 7.

Tickets are on sale for the gala dinner, at which attendees will sample canapes created by a collection of the city's top chefs. Visit goldmedalplates.com for more information.
