Juan De Fuca pools are all open after maintenance closure

West Shore Parks and Recreation has all of its aquatic facilities up and running again.

The main pool, adventure pool and the hot tub where all reopened on Dec. 27 after being drained at the beginning of December.

All three pools were drained for the annual pool closure for maintenance. The adventure pool and hot tub were resurfaced for the first time since they were built in 2000.

And West Shore Parks and Recreation anticipated both the hot tub and adventure pools would be opening in January due to a curing process.

The De Chicco Brothers (Stucco) put every available man on to pull off the marsite and then they floated the floor in one day," said Ron Dietrich,WSPR  maintenance supervisor.

It took two and half weeks for the pools to cure, but the initial work was done so quickly they were able to open at the same time as the main pool.

"It was a happy early Christmas present to us," Dietrich said adding pool staff needed to added to the schedule.
