Join in the Colwood cleanup this weekend

The City of Colwood's annual Spring Clean-Up happens this Friday and Saturday (April 25 and 26) to help city residents get rid of unwanted items for recycling and disposal.

Public works crews will be at Colwood city hall (3300 Wishart Rd.) to take in a wide variety of items, for a small fee.

Among the material accepted are appliances, batteries, freezers, rocks, underlay, tires, automotive parts, electronics, furniture, lumber and branches.

Crews will not accept household garbage, drywall, tree stumps, tires on rims, paint, hazardous waste or propane tanks.

A car load costs $15 while a pickup or trailer load runs $25. Appliances are $20 each for disposal; fridges, freezers, air conditioners and water coolers, are $25 each.

Only Colwood residents can use the service and proof of residency is required. The event runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.
