Colwood goes Hollywood

Esquimalt Lagoon will be used as a location for the television series Gracepoint, which has been being filmed around Greater Victoria, and mainly Oak Bay, for a number of months now.

The City of Colwood has granted permission for the Fox production to film at the West Shore landmark overnight from Tuesday, May 27 to Wednesday, May 28.

“Isn’t that cool?” said Mayor Carol Hamilton. “I would hope that people would be respectful of the process going on there, because it is very limited in space. So don’t coming crowding down in vehicles.”

Crews will be at the beach filming a scene where an actor rows a small boat to shore, unloads items from the boat and then leaves. The production has permission to film from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Trucks will be pared adjacent to the shoreline, but the production should not impact traffic. Users of the lagoon are asked to respect the filming and follow instructions from the crew when necessary.

The first trailer for the ten-episode series was revealed on May 12. See the trailer here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9IWvbbZPZc
