Belmont students raising cash for Zack

Leadership students from Belmont secondary school are hosting a barbecue fundraiser Saturday (May 24) to raise money for Zack Downey, a Grade 12 boy from Langford with terminal cancer.

Leadership teacher Danielle Hucalak, who taught Downey in Grade 8, was approached by a parent with an idea of doing something for the Downey family, who are seeking alternative therapies for Zack that are not covered by health care.

The barbecue is by donation and takes place at Select Mortgages, 3212 Jacklin Rd. at Sooke Road, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
