Bus stop pervert strikes again

The bus stop masturbator was at it again last weekend and is becoming more brazen, Victoria police say.

On Saturday, he blocked a 16-year-old girl sitting alone at a bus shelter on Johnson Street near Fernwood Road, undid his pants and masturbated in front of her. He then asked her to touch his genitals.

This is the 12th similar report since January. On March 22, a 22-year-old Asian student was confronted by a man at a bus shelter on Fort and Cook streets, who masturbated in front of her.

Until Saturday, though, the man targeted young Asian women and hadn’t asked them to touch him.

Previous reports of similar incidents came from Quadra Street at Pandora Avenue, Finlayson Street near Blanshard Street, two from the Quadra-Hillside area and one near Hillside Mall.

Victoria and Saanich police departments are working together on the string of disturbing acts.

The suspect has the same description in all cases: 20-35 years old, 190-220 lbs., short brown hair. On Saturday, he wore a black ball cap, baggy jeans and a dark blue zip-up jacket and dark hoodie.

Police warned women Tuesday to remain in busy, well-lit areas, to travel in groups and to wait for their bus outside the shelter, so they can escape. Any victims should call Det. Kevin Lastiwka at 250-995-7234 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
