Man arrested in victimless shooting
A man was arrested last weekend in connection to a shooting in View Towers – one with no victim.
Police were called the the apartment building at 1147 Quadra St. at about 9:30 p.m. on Sept. 18, following multiple reports of shots fired inside. Officers searched the entire building and found shell casings on a mid-level floor. They didn’t, however, find blood, a victim, a weapon or a suspect at the time, even after talking to dozens of residents in the building.
Major crime detectives identified a suspect and on Sept. 25, police arrested a man on the street in the 3000-block of Douglas St., at 1:30 p.m.
Davin Michael Stewart, 22, was charged with several firearms offences, possession of stolen property, personation with intent and two counts of breaching court orders.
Const. Mike Russell said the suspect had a weapon on him – not the firearm used at View Towers – and gave officers a false name when they approached him.
“When we know who you are, it’s probably not a good idea to give us the wrong name, because you’ll get extra charges out of that.”
Still, no victims have been identified in the case and the firearm used at the apartment hasn’t been located.
