City talks waste tomorrow

Changes are coming to the CIty of Victoria waste collection system, and it's now up to citizens to say which of three models they prefer.

Starting January 2013, residents will begin receiving kitchen-scrap collection. They'll also receive a standardized waste tote, which can be lifted into the truck mechanically.

Up for discussion is how often residents would like their garbage collected, and if they'd like to continue to receive backyard tote pick up.

Each model comes with a different cost.

The open house to give feedback:

• Saturday, Nov. 26, 1-4 p.m. at Public Square at the corner of Fisgard and Government streets.

The city will also mail surveys to every household, which must be completed by Dec. 15. Find out more at www.victoria.ca/greenbin.
