Fatigued driver nabbed by Victoria police

Victoria police are warning the fatigued to stay alert while driving, after a man was found asleep at the wheel early Monday morning.
A B.C. Transit bus driver discovered a 29-year-old man asleep at a stoplight on Douglas and Hillside at 7:30 a.m. The Monday after time change is known as one of the highest collision dates, according to Victoria police.
The man was driving a Ford Explorer south on Douglas and turned out to be a prohibited driver, said Const. Mike Russell.
“He admitted to be very tired,” Russell said.
The man is facing a charge of driving while prohibited.
Driving while fatigued impairs brain functions as much as alcohol consumption, reducing the ability to respond quickly and accurately, according to a recent BCAA study.
