Dementia care transition tips offered in Victoria
If you have a family member with dementia who recently moved to residential care, a workshop this week could shed some light on your changing caregiver role.
"Living in Residential Care" focuses on the process of adjustment, how to enhance your visits, working effectively with a care team and tips on advocacy. The workshop happens tomorrow (March 29) at 1:30 p.m. at the Hillside Seniors Health Centre, 1454 Hillside Ave. To register, call 250-370-5641 or email WellnessCentreRegistration@viha.ca.
Another workshop, "Understanding and Living with Dementia," set for May 7, is aimed at individuals recently diagnosed with dementia, their families and caregivers.
Learn about the diagnosis, different programs and services available in the community, the importance of planning for the future and strategies for living well. The workshop happens at the Alzheimer Society Resource Centre, 202-306 Burnside Rd. W. To register call 250-382-2052.
