Ida Chong onboard for next election
B.C. Liberal MLA Ida Chong was given the green light to run for a fifth term in Oak Bay-Gordon Head last Tuesday.
Chong has held the seat since 1996 and is the minister of Aboriginal relations and reconciliation. She has held several portfolios including community, sport and cultural development and advanced education.
In a press release, the veteran cabinet minister called the May 2012 election “critically important” and said she is running again to “continue to help Premier Christy Clark keep B.C. moving forward.”
Chong served as a municipal councillor for Saanich from 1993 to 1996.
A provincial election will take place May 2012.
