Mediation talks break down between B.C. Transit, union

A mediator-led negotiation between B.C. Transit and the union representing bus drivers broke down only hours into talks.
Ben Williams, Canadian Auto Workers 333 local president, said the union put forward "several new offers" but were unable to resolve the dispute.
“To say we are very disappointed is an understatement," Williams said.
The union is continuing to oppose a B.C. Transit plan to purchase high-capacity Vicinity buses, which require a lower-class driving licence to operate.
Job action, including an overtime ban for bus drivers, will continue, Williams said.
B.C. Transit was not immediately available for comment.
