Fist fight leads to stabbing at Harriet and Burnside

A long bloody fight Thursday night left one man with stab wounds and the other facing aggravated assault charges.

Two men began fighting on Harriet Road last night before 6 p.m., which carried to Burnside Road and through the 7-Eleven parking lot. One of the males, a 44-year-old, stabbed the other near the intersection.

Saanich police soon located the victim, a man in his 40s, at a nearby friend’s home with a number of witnesses. Police found and arrested the suspect nearby.

Police say the victim and the suspect are known to each other and that the stab wounds are not life threatening. The victim was taken to Victoria General Hospital last night and the suspect is due in court today on a charge of aggravated assault.

Sgt. Dean Jantzen said Friday morning the victim was treated overnight and was subsequently released from hospital.
