Parolee nabbed after routine traffic stop

A violent parolee is back in jail after VicPD officers spotted him driving a vehicle registered to an elderly woman.

Just after 3 a.m. Saturday morning, VicPD attempted to pull over the Chevrolet Cavalier on Cook Street near Dallas Road, but the driver took off at a high rate of speed.

Officers did not pursue, but spotted the man exiting the parked vehicle moments later on Cambridge Street.

A 43-year-old man was arrested on a Canada-wide warrant, and further charges are pending, said Const. Mike Russell.
