Coho sets sails for minor overhaul
Travellers looking to get to the Olympic Peninsula will need to take a detour for the next few weeks.
From Jan. 20 to Feb. 7, the M.V. Coho, which runs daily between Victoria’s Inner Harbour and Port Angeles, Wash., will be taking its annual maintenance and refurbishment break.
“We’ve maintained (the Coho) impeccably and put new engines in there in 2004,” said Ryan Burles, president of Black Ball Ferry Line. “As long as we keep at it, she’s got many years ahead of her.”
The routine maintenance will be done at the Dakota Creek drydock in Anacortes, Wash..
The last sailings prior to the break will be Sunday (Jan. 20) at 8:20 a.m. from Port Angeles, and at 10:30 a.m. from Victoria.
As the only privately owned ferry connecting the Island to Washington State, the Coho carries 400,000 passengers and 120,000 vehicles annually.
