Victoria police issue warning about convicted sex offender living in city
The Victoria Police Department has issued a public warning about a convicted sex offender living in the area.
Michael Wayne Carpenter, 40, is currently serving an eight-year sentence for three counts each of sexual assault with a weapon, unlawful confinement and uttering threats.
He has a lengthy criminal record, and a history of targeting and sexually assaulting adult and young women he does not know.
In 2005, Carpenter attacked two female hotel workers in Kamloops in separate incidents.
Carpenter's parole conditions state he must avoid schools and playgrounds, not possess a computer, not travel north of the Malahat and report all interactions with women to his parole officer. He is also restricted from consuming alcohol.
If Carpenter is seen breaking these conditions, contact Det. Shawn Robson at 250-995-7654 or email shawn.robson@vicpd.ca.
