Victoria Police seize replica handgun from minor

A minor scared one Victoria resident earlier today by brandishing a replica handgun while walking with his friends along Chambers Street.

The man called Victoria Police Department around 1:30 p.m.after spotting the group near Springridge Common Park.

When officers arrived, they confiscated a replica "Air soft' handgun from one of the four minors.

“Having these types of guns in public presents a real danger,” said VicPD Cst. Jose Bingham. “Neither the public or police can easily tell that these are not real. We have to deal with these situations very seriously and carefully.”

Charges have not immediately been laid, but police continue to investigate.
