Bomb scare in Victoria's Beacon Hill Park

Victoria police cordoned off an area of Beacon Hill Park Sunday after municipal workers found a suspicious-looking pipe. VicPD took no chances and called in the RCMP bomb squad from the Lower Mainland, but the item turned out to be a sealed sprinkler head.

VicPD has one officer and a police dog trained in explosive device identification.

Public works crews will remove additional piping if necessary, said VicPD spokesman Bowen Osoko.
