Victoria cyclist loses wheel, crashes

Emergency crews were called out just after 9;30am this morning (May 16) to Admirals Road near the Naden entrance to CFB Esquimalt after a lone cyclist coming down the hill crashed onto the pavement.

A witness said a wheel of the cyclist's bike had come loose as the man approached the base entrance.

B.C. Ambulance and Victoria Police crews arrived to find the man face down and motionless on the pavement, but Staff Sgt. Gordon Cochrane later confirmed the man suffered only minor injuries including scratches and bruising.

He was transported to hospital by ambulance.
