Victoria police seek information after Friday night assault in Banfield Park

Victoria police detectives are looking to speak to a man who tried to intervene in an assault Friday night (June 28) in Bamfield Park.

Officers were called for a report of an assault around 6:30 p.m. The victim told police she was walking through the park when she was attacked by a man who she knew. The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries and was treated in hospital.

The victim also told officers a man came to her aide during the attack. The Good Samaritan tried to intervene but was also assaulted by the suspect. All three people fled and the victim called police from a place of safety.

Officers located and arrest a suspect, however, VicPD is looking to speak with the man who intervened and was assaulted as well as any other person who may have witnessed the assault.
