Victoria police dismantle Quadra Village drug operation

The Victoria Police Department arrested seven people and seized nearly $70,000 in cash and drugs on Aug. 9, part of a network of drug dealers police say were operating in the Quadra Village area.

Dubbed "Operation Village People," police completed undercover drug buys and conducted surveillance in Quadra Village and the downtown core before executing a search warrant in the 1800-block of Fern St. and three other search warrants in the 2500-block of Wark St. last week.

“This project was initiated by some very astute officers who put together this information, based on concerns from the community, and came up with a great project,” said Sgt. Barrie Cockle, who leads VicPD's bike squad.

Among those charged with drug-related offences is Kirk Thomas, a 39-year-old Surrey man, and two Victoria women in their 30's.
