Hot dog cart, zodiac and beverage cart among recent stolen items in Saanich

A distinctive food cart owned by Dog Nation, a gourmet hot dog vendor, was stolen over the weekend as it was parked in the 3600-block of Raymond St.

The cart, which is equipped with a sink and a grill, disappeared between Saturday night and Sunday morning.

Michael Ransom, co-owner of Dog Nation, says the theft "severely restricts" what the company can do. They have a second cart, but they usually have both carts operating in different locations in downtown Victoria during the summer.

"We have shifts for both of those locations and now we can't operate them both at the same time," Ransom said, which impacts staffing levels. "It's been a fairly large cutback to our income and revenue so far."

Ransom said the cart is valued at around $15,000.

A 10.5' zodiac was stolen from the waters of Portage Inlet earlier this month.

Saanich police say the boat and all its parts, including a 9.9-horsepower Honda outboard motor, were locked and secured to a dock in the 700-block of Newbury St. It disappeared some time between Aug. 5 and Aug. 22, while the owner was on vacation.

A beverage cart that's circulated around Prospect Lake golf course serving refreshments to golfers was reported missing Tuesday morning (Aug. 27) around 2:30 a.m.

Colin Davey, general manager of the golf course, says the lock and chain used to secure the cart overnight was cut.

The beverage cart has a value of $5,000.

Police are asking anyone with information on any of these thefts of the whereabouts of these items to call 250-475-4321.
