A Victoria senior is elated after winning $500,000 playing the lotto.

Fan Shih Chen, 71, bought his Lotto 6/49 ticket last weekend at Walmart at Uptown Mall for the Oct. 5 draw and was the sole winner of the extra.

“I’ve played the lotto for years but this is the largest prize I’ve ever won," Chen said in a statement.

He plans to pay off his mortgage and possibly go on a cruise with the windfall.
