High winds, unsafe seas cancel tonight's Sea of Lights parade in Oak Bay

The Royal Victoria Yacht Club’s annual Sea of Lights parade and community bonfire scheduled for tonight (Dec. 6) have been sunk due to high winds and choppy seas.

Held annually since 2006 when it helped celebrate Oak Bay’s centennial, the boat parade helps kick off the holiday season and is a fundraiser for the Salvation Army Christmas Fund, and Oak Bay Kiwanis.

Saturday's Lighted Ship Parade in the Inner Harbour, a followup to the annual Lighted Truck Parade, gets underway at around 7 p.m. from Ship Point. It goes in conjunction with the Christmas night market on from 5 to 9 p.m.
