Thieves escape with stolen kayaks by water

Saanich police believe thieves may have made a getaway by water after stealing two kayaks from the beach in front of a house in Cordova Bay.

The kayaks were on a rack but not locked in front of a residence in the 5400-block of Parker Ave., and stolen between Dec. 31 and Jan. 3. Based on the location, police suspect the kayaks were stolen by water, despite not having any paddles with them.

The one blue and one yellow kayaks were worth between $2,000 and $2,400. The owners want them returned and anyone with information on their whereabouts is asked to call the department at 250-475-4321.
