Victoria police issue public advisory after Beacon Hill Park stabbing
The Victoria Police Department is releasing a suspect description after a man was stabbed in Beacon Hill Park last week, and warning late-night park users to exercise caution.
On Jan. 11 just before midnight, a 49-year-old man was stabbed near a sheltered bench along the Dallas Road waterfront trail.
The suspect, who escaped on foot, is described as Caucasian, 20 to 30 years old, 6 feet tall, 200 pounds and physically fit. He also has short red hair, a short, full red beard and green eyes. At the time of the assault, the suspect was wearing a dark yellow hoodie, grey pants and board shorts.
“We are asking anyone with information to come forward,” said Sgt. Jamie McRae. “We want to find the person responsible for this attack. Until we do, we’re asking anyone who uses the park, particularly late at night, to use caution.”
The victim of the assault, a 49-year-old man, is recovering after undergoing surgery. It is believed the victim and attacker were not known to each other, and robbery is not considered a motive.
Anyone with information is asked to call the VicPD non-emergency line at 250-995-7654 or to call CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
