Up-skirt voyeur arrested in Victoria, police seek unknown victims

The Victoria Police Department is seeking victims of a voyeur who allegedly used his cellphone to take pictures up women's skirts.

The in-custody suspect is Caucasian, in his mid-40s, five-foot-10 and 175 pounds. He also has a distinct French-Canadian accent, said Det. Mark MacPhail of VicPD's special victims unit. Police received "exceptional and timely information from members of the public" to make the arrest, said VicPD Const. Mike Russell, but wouldn't elaborate further.

“Given the nature of the offences and the suspect’s history we are quite certain there are other victims out there who are not yet known to us,” MacPhail said. “We’re also quite sure that there are additional witnesses to these crimes out there who have not yet come forward as well.”

The suspect will remain in custody pending trial, Russell said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the VicPD Non-Emergency line at 250-995-7654 or the VicPD Detective tip line at 250-995–7444.
