Saanich rifle range to be used for night firing exercise Saturday

The Department of National Defence and the Royal Canadian Navy will be conducting a night firing exercise tomorrow night (Saturday, Feb. 22) at Heal’s Rifle Range in Saanich.

The range, located in rural Prospect Lake near Willis Point Road and Wallace Drive, will be used from 5 p.m. to midnight.

Residents in the area can expect to hear pops and bangs throughout the course of the exercise, according to base public affairs.

“The public is reminded that no unauthorized person may enter this area and trespassing is prohibited,” reads a release. “In the unlikely event stray ammunition and explosive objects are encountered do not pick up or retain objects as souvenirs and notify local police immediately to make arrangements for disposal.”
