Esquimalt's annual Buccaneer Days ready to say Arrrrr!

All was quiet on the midway area behind the Archie Browning Arena over the noon hour as crews waited for power to be turned on so final set up could take place for Buccaneer Day celebrations. The midway officially opens at 3pm today and events continue through the weekend.

Well pirates, time to strap on your eyepatch as Esquimalt's annual Buccaneer days festival gets underway today, Friday afternoon, at 3pm when the midway rides and food stalls open.

Events run through Saturday until Sunday afternoon kicking off early Saturday morning with the Lions Pancake Breakfast at 7:30 am. The parade, running through downtown Esquimalt, starts at 10 am.

It's not all just cotton candy and rides on the ferris wheel as other events include a beer garden, a community dance, arts and crafts show and sale, Ultimate Frisbee tournament, model trains demonstration and more.
