Pacifica Housing & Coalition celebrate 120 individuals housed
Pacifica Housing and the Greater Victoria Coalition to End Homelessness hosted a celebratory barbecue Thursday to recognize that the Streets to Homes program has successfully housed 120 individuals.
Created in 2009 as a pilot program between eight coalition partners, Streets to Homes was initially designed to move 30 people directly from cyclical homelessness to private market housing with supports. The pilot was successful, that it was made permanent, expanded and transferred to Pacifica to oversee in 2012.
In the last few months, thanks in part to rental supplement funding provided by the provincial government, the program was able to reach capacity – housing 120 people experiencing homelessness.
“Streets to Homes is a tremendous success story for our region,” said Andrew Wynn-Williams, executive director of the coalition.
“By collaborating with our partners we have been able to change the lives of 120 individuals.”
