Hydro Pole Catches Fire on Craigflower Road

Esquimalt Fire Rescue was called to the scene of a burning power pole in the 800 block of Craigflower Road at approximately 9 a.m. this morning. Traffic, both pedestrian and vehicle, was stopped in both directions as a safety measure while crews cooled down the pole .

Hydro crews are now on scene. Power is affected locally, including Tillicum to Dominion on Craigflower Road, and Selkirk Avenue. Pine Street in Victoria is also affected. Traffic should reopen intermittently by 11 a.m. Power is expected to be out locally until noon.
