City launches emergency notification service

Service will alert residents of tsunamis, power outages, severe weather among other things.

A new emergency notification service called Vic-Alert has come to Victoria.

The service informs residents, businesses, and others of major emergencies such as severe weather, power outages, tsunamis, AMBER alerts, gas leaks and other neighbourhood emergencies, in a timely manner.

Subscribers will received emergency updates and instructions by text, email or a voice call.
