Early Friday morning, Jan. 14, a unique looking pickup truck was stolen from a secure compound in Shawnigan Lake.

The Shawnigan Lake RCMP are asking for the public’s assistance to keep an eye out for the bright yellow Ford F550 flat bed truck with a Rental Zip logo on each door, which is believed to have travelled south following its theft.

The owner of the truck called RCMP after realizing that the secure compound where the vehicle had been stored — in the 3400-block of the Trans Canada Highway near Cobble Hill — had been broken into and the vehicle gone.

“Investigators are currently asking anyone who has video surveillance in the Millstream area to review it, as information has come forward it may have been in the area just after 2 a.m.,” said Sgt. Chris Manseau, BC RCMP media relations officer.

It’s believed the truck had been spotted near or at the Millstream McDonald’s.

The bright yellow truck is a 2018 Ford F550 with a B.C. licence plate of PH6 784. It had a red tidy tank strapped to the flat deck and a photo of a construction machine along with the Rental Zip logo on its doors.
