A gas leak led to the evacuation of the Saunders building at the University of Victoria at noon on Monday.

Construction compromised a natural gas line which led to a significant smell of rotten eggs in the area. Employees were permitted to return to the Saunders building a little before 1 p.m.

Saanich Police and Saanich Fire responded and temporarily blocked a lane along McKenzie Avenue, close to the intersection with Finnerty Road.
