Born on June 5, 1909. Passed away peacefully with family by her side on November 13, 2010 at 101 years of age. Late of Maidstone. Loving wife of the late James T. Markham (August 28, 1974) with whom she married on October 2, 1928.

Treasured mother of James and Margaret, Earl and Flora, Mary Lou Kwiatkowski, Shirley, Carol and Martin Strong, John and Lesbia, Edward and Kim, Judy and Richard Wirch, Michael and Theresa, Thomas and Deborah. She is survived by 46 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren, 32 great-great-grandchildren as well as one sister-in-law, Ella Mae Markham.

Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and Godchildren. Predeceased by parents Israel (1960), and Alice (Gilboe) Durocher (1958), son Robert (1943), daughters Jeanne Kwiatkowski (1997), Patricia Vermeulen (2006), son-in-law Edmund Kwiatkowski (1987), daughter-in-law Evelyn (2000); grandchildren Maureen (1949), Joseph (1964), Michael (1984), Richard (1984), Paul (2001); great-grand-child David (1989); great-great-grandson Cruz Jack Markham (2010); brothers Edward Durocher (1978), and wife Hazel (1995), Leo (2003), and wife Lily (1988) and by her one sister, Cecile Hebert (2004) and husband Norman (1987); brother and sister-in-laws, Helen and Charles Baker, Dorothy and Harold Hill, Frances and Steven Dunn, Melvin Markham, Ted and wife Ria Markham, Mary Olive Markham, Mary Irene and Michael McCloskey, and George Markham. Mom, you experienced ten decades of life, happiness and grief at levels many of us will never know, but you lived your life to the fullest in your community as well as in our family. We are so proud of you as our mother, as a grand woman, a community leader for many years and for that sparkle in your eye for all your artistic abilities. From your home to the canvas, your legacy as Marie Markham, the artist will live on in this family for years to come in respect of your talents and contributions to all of our lives.


Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
