Cyclist crackdown comes without bite

Re: Cops tackle problem of helmetless cyclists (News, Aug. 26)

On one of our regular walks along the Dallas Road waterfront, we noticed an unusual number of people on bicycles not wearing helmets or any protective gear.

“Hey, let’s do our own little survey, in light of the so-called bicycle infraction crackdown,” I said to my wife.

From the start of the Ogden Point breakwater to the Harrison Yacht Pond, we counted approximately  24 definite infractions. This was nearly everything from riding three-abreast, sidewalk-riding, and of course the main one of not wearing helmets. Are people really that much out-of-touch with reality? Some crackdown!
