Letters to the Editor

Well done, Sidney

Congratulations to the Town of Sidney for developing five charging stations for electrical cars. In some ways, this pioneering initiative is much like the farsighted people who built the first gas stations when there were so few cars. They took a chance with a new technology and the rest is history.

These charging stations will make Sidney a destination point for travellers and encourage more people to buy electric cars and help the planet. What’s not to like about that?

For those who drive electric cars, range anxiety is a real fear. If they venture too far on a drive, they may not be able to return because there is no place to recharge their batteries. The Sidney charging stations will eliminate that fear.

It is not often that policians can see past the next election and make a decision that has a long-range benefit. Sidney’s politicians have smelled the roses and should be commended for this action.
