Grizzlies can win at home tonight

The Powell River Kings are back in the BCHL conference semifinals with a 3-2 win over the Victoria Grizzlies on Monday night.

Victoria holds a 3-2 series lead going into Game 6 at Bear Mountain Arena tonight (March 15).

Powell River rebounded from Saturday's 5-2 loss with a much stronger effort in Powell River on Monday, edging in overtime on a goal by Jon Jutzi.

Grizzlies' forward Dustin Johnson scored with a minute left in the game to send it to overtime. Taylor Pernerowski scored the first goal of the game.

Game time is 7:10 p.m. at the Bear.

Panthers avoid sweep by Cougars

The Peninsula Panthers extended the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League championship finals with a 4-2 win over the Victoria Cougars at Panorama Rec. Centre on Monday.

Game 5 goes 7:15 p.m. Thursday (March 17) at Archie Browning Sports Centre.

Cole Peterson and Zach Mazo spotted the Panthers a 2-0 lead but the Cougars responded with a poweplay goal by Clark Anderson.

Before the Cougars could even it up, however, Brad Dick scored for the Panthers from Densmore and Peterson.

Ryan Chan scored Victoria's second goal but Panthers' goalie Nick Babich stopped all 11 shots in the third period.

Panther's captain Evan Campbell scored an empty-netter to make it a 4-2 win.
