Claremont grad among Vikes recruits
Claremont secondary standout Shaylyn Crisp leads an elite field of recruits set to join the University of Victoria women’s basketball team next fall.
Graduating high schoolers Crisp, Zoey Haramboure and Jenny Lewis join Jordyn Newman, a 2010-11 redshirt, and Camosun College transfer Chelsea McMullen as newcomers to the Vikes lineup.
Crisp is a 5-foot-7 point guard who, under the tutelage of coach Kim Graves, a two-time CIS national champion (and Mark Neufeld before that), guided the Claremont Spartans to final four appearances in the past two AAA girls provincials (third in 2010, second in 2011).
Haramboure is a 5-foot-11 guard from Langley. Lewis is a 5-foot-11 guard-forward from Fall River, N.S. This past season, Newman, from Surrey, redshirted with the Vikes.
McMullen should be the most game ready, transferring after an all-star season with the Camosun Chargers.
The Prince George product finished her third year as a Charger second overall in B.C. collegiate scoring with an average of 20.5 points per game.
