Spokane Chiefs dump Victoria Royals, 6-1

The Spokane Chiefs whupped the Victoria Royals in the B.C. capital on Wednesday, scoring the first five goals to roll to a 6-1 win.

Spokane's Liam Stewart scored two goals and Steven Kuhn added three assists. Chiefs netminder Mac Engel also stopped 24 out of 25 shots.

Victoria's Steven Hodges added a late marker (his 20th of the season) to make it 5-1, before Dominic Uher scored his 28th of the season for the final tally.

Spokane also beat Victoria on Tuesday night, 4-2, in what turned out to be a much more competitive affair than their second game.

Spokane now trails the fourth-place Vancouver Giants by one point in the WHL's Western Conference playoff race.

The Royals have some work to do. Victoria is in seventh place, two points ahead of the Seattle Thunderbirds. However, only four points separate the Royals from the last-place Prince George Cougars..
