Greater Victoria students jam it on bikes

Victoria high school students are gearing up to try seven different cycling sports for free next week at the Juan de Fuca recreation centre.

BikeJam 2014 lets students try velodrome, BMX, mountain biking, cyclocross, road and downhill cycling and jumping with a professional airbag.

Instructors for the event national downhill champion Andrew Mitchell, Red Bull Rampage free-rider Mark Matthews and former World Cup cross country rider Tom Skinner.

Students can attend the even as an organized field trip or as a team for the School Bike League with a school-approved adult supervisor.

Registration deadline is April 7 and is also online at schoolbikeleague.com. The event begins at 10 a.m. the following day.
