Victoria promises easier parking just in time for holiday shopping.
The city is doubling down, with digital signs outside city parkades outlining how many spots are available and a discount code for parking credit for people who use the app.
The goal is to make it easier to support downtown business, says the City of Victoria's manager of economic development.
“Whether you’re heading downtown to shop, celebrate or take in a show, the parking improvements take the guesswork out of finding a spot plus the parking credit adds a little festive cheer,” Quinn Anglin said in a news release.
Before heading downtown, go to victoria.ca/parking to see real-time availability at city parkades. The digital signs let drivers know how many of the 144 one-hour-free, accessible or general spots are available in each city parkade.
ParkVictoria app users can get a one-time $6 parking discount from Dec. 6 to 15. To get the discount, start a parking session in the ParkVictoria app by entering the parking space, time and payment method. Under session options enter the promo code “joy” to receive the discount.
City parkades are always free on Sundays, holidays and after 8 p.m. daily.
For those who prefer pedal power, the downtown bike valet on Pandora Avenue between Government and Douglas Streets offers free, secure bike parking service year-round.
